UMBS Bead Retreats: Twice each year we head off for a few days of beading, fun, beading, shopping, beading, learning a new pattern, good friends, beading, food, beading... I think you get the idea. We offer a few classes, and someone is always willing to teach you just about anything you want to learn. We usually have some vendors so if you forget something, you can buy it from them or borrow it from someone else. Consider bringing those UFOs sitting in your bead stash.
SPRING Retreat is usually in March; to get rid of your cabin fever. FALL Retreat is usually in September; after the kids are off for another school year and just in time to start working on those Christmas projects. We have been doing these bead retreats for 20+ years and have tried several different venues over the years. We've especially enjoyed our experiences at Camp Wapogasset in Wisconsin.

The retreat is scheduled from noon
There will be a limit of 24 overnight attendees this year; this will be on a first come-first served basis.
Meals:
Fill out the registration form above and send with a check made out to UMBS at the address listed on the form. The checks are held until the retreat, in case you are unable to attend.

- Saturday – breakfast and dinner
- Sunday - brunch, check out by 1 PM, please leave time to clean rooms and work area

Grace Enebo - Apoxie Clay Pendant – Friday 11/6/24
Aves Clay has generously donated 25 jars of Apoxie Sculpt to UMBS. Grace Enebo has offered to teach a class to make a pendant out of the Apoxie Sculpt. Students should bring whatever they like to put into the pendant, don't necessarily need to make a nature pendant.
Grace will provide:

Grace will provide:
- Apoxie Sculpt - bronze
- Small stones
- Small shells
- Pin backs with bail
- Pin backs without bail
- Tools to texture the clay
- Aluminum foil for a work surface
- Vaseline
- E6000 to glue the pin back
- Cabachons, beads, crystals and/or stones to embed in the clay
- Sharpened pencil to work the clay

- 15 grams - Dark colored beads for Center Ladder
- 50 grams- Light colored beads for Fringe
- Button for clasp
- Standard beading supplies – needle, thread, scissors

Can be made with any size bugle beads
Supplies:
- 2 sizes seed beads (center is larger size)
- Bugle beads
- Fire Polish, Swarovski or Chinese Crystal for ends
- Fireline (will have to be stiffened) or 26 gauge wire
- Small bugle beads to make earrings – Size 15 and 11 seed beads and 2 or 3mm crystals
- Medium size bugle beads – Size 8 and 11 seed beads and 4mm crystals
- Large size bugle beads – Size 6 and 8 seed beads and 6mm crystals

Hannah Rosner taught the Tambour Bead Embroidery Maple Leaf Pendant or Brooch
BIO
Hannah holds a BFA in scenic design and English literature from Swarthmore College and a Master’s Degree in scenic and costume design from The Ohio State Unversity but her true love is beading and beadmaking. She taught design for 5 years at the Art Institutes International – both at their Pittsburgh and Chicago campuses.
Hannah was a Starman Beads Trendsetter for 7 years, is a Toho Ambassador and has taken part in all of the Toho Bead Challenges. She placed 3rd in the Glass Craft Expo jewelry show in 2009 and has been a finalist twice in the Bead & Button Bead Dreams Competition. She has taken part in 4 Battles of the Beadsmiths and has taught across the country at bead stores, shows and societies.
