Changing the World One Bead at a Time
Bead Aide
Bead Aide was formed over 10 years ago by Cindy Tipton and others to assist beaders in times of emergencies. We have helped countless beaders and friends in need. The assistance takes many forms from monetary donations to donations of beading supplies. Our goal is to raise funds from a larger world community to continue this assistance by conducting auctions. 100% of the winning auction price will go to the cause.
Bead & Button Show – Bead Artists Against Breast Cancer
The Bead & Button Show is committed to join the fight against breast cancer with other bead artists. You will now be able to donate to this worthy cause year-round or with your Show registrations. All proceeds from your donation will be used fully for breast-cancer research. There are no deductions for administrative costs at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Beads of Courage
Beads of Courage® is a resilience-based intervention designed to support and strengthen the protective resources in children coping with serious illness. Through the program children tell their story using colorful beads as meaningful symbols of courage that commemorate milestones they have achieved along their unique treatment path.
Circle of Hope – Breast Cancer Awareness
In 2000, the people of Fire Mountain Gems and Beads created the first Circle of Hope necklace as a way to raise both awareness and money in the fight against breast cancer. That necklace, and those that have followed every year since, are created using stunning one of a kind beads donated by hundreds of caring artists from all over the world.
The designer beads comprising the Circle of Hope necklaces will be sold one bead at a time, in order to raise funds for breast cancer research. 100% of the proceeds go to research; Fire Mountain Gems covers all the costs of administering the program.
Shanigans’ Bead Shenanigans
Jeanette Shanigan, a bead artist, author and teacher from Wasilla, Alaska has helped organize and contributed to several Breast Cancer bead projects each year. Check out her website and see what projects she is currently working on and how you can participate, too.
The Portable Playhouse, Inc.
We are a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization which provides a specialized and unique art program to pediatric units in hospitals and outpatient cancer centers. Recognizing the need for innovative effective and healthy distractions, our mission was to research, design and implement a program to create a happy, healthy environment for our "special clients" (children & women) through artistic expression. There is clear evidence that a patient’s physical well-being is fundamentally linked to their emotional and spiritual well-being. The expressive arts can play a decisive role in promoting overall health and to enrich and enliven their environment. The Portable Playhouse volunteers work with each new "client" in all stages of recovery, whether from a broken bone or terminally ill.
