About UMBS
In 1989 Diane Fitzgerald founded the Upper Midwest Bead Society. We are a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization open to anyone interested in beads. Our mission is to further the understanding and enjoyment of beads and beadwork.
Meetings
All meetings, unless otherwise noted, are held the first Monday of the month starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Textile Center 3000 SE University Avenue, Minneapolis 55414.
The fee for non-members is $5, unless otherwise noted, but if you decide to join the night you visit that amoutn will be applied again your membership. The UMBS Board members meet before each meeting at 5:30 p.m. for business purposes. Officers must attend, but any member is welcome to join the meeting.
We also have tables available starting at 5 p.m. before each meeting if you want to come early and just bead.
GOOD NEWS - EXTENDED PARKING AT TEXTILE CENTER
Thanks to Textile Center's cooperative next-door neighbor, members and guests of TC may now park in the small lot immediately to the east of our own parking lot after 5pm and on weekends. Please respect our neighboring business's generosity and do not park in their lot before 5pm on weekdays. This extended parking does not extend to NanoSystems' lot two doors to the east.
Membership
Membership dues are $24 per year (Prorated at $2 per meeting for new members) and include:

- Bi-monthly newsletter

- Opportunity to participate in the UMBS spring and fall bead retreats
- Opportunity to participate in our annual spring Demo & Do
- Opportunity to participate in bead challenges and contests

- Discounts at participating local bead stores
- Use of the Textile Center Library
The UMBS newsletter is sent via email whenever possible. This will allow us to spend your membership dues on fun activities rather than postage. Of course, if you don't have e-mail or cannot accept e-mail attachments we will snail mail the newsletter to you.
