Fine Arts Show at the State Fair

In 2010 The State Fair Board (after many years of encouragement from various organizations) finally agreed to add an "Art Jewelry" category to the Fine Arts Competition. Two of the top three winners were UMBS members. It is time now to start working on your entry for the 2011 competition.
Registration for entries is due by mid July. Check out the State Fair web site for more info.

Jewelry in any media can be entered, but UMBS will be sponsoring an award ($100 and a UMBS membership) for the best piece containing beads.

The criteria for our award will represent the diversity of our membership and their use of beads of various origins.

AND THE WINNER IS:
The first place winner in the jewelry category and the winner of the UMBS Award was
UMBS Member Marsha Weist-Hines

12 pieces were entered, with 6 of them being accepted into the show.
All of the 2010 entries were purchased by the same person for their collection.

We are sad to say that after the 2010 Fair the State Fair Board decided to eliminate the Jewelry Category. Any jewelry will now have to be entered into the sculpture category.
No entries were accepted into the 2011 show.
